Look for in leaves- Leaves with irregular green-yellow speckles up to 2 mm across, which turn yellow to white later in the season
- Symptoms on 2-3 exposed mature leaves per vine and rarely on more than 20 leaves
- Speckles that may be isolated or clumped along main veins and veinlets
- More obvious in hot summers and on exposed basal leaves
- Yellow speckle viroid shows bright symptoms in springs that follow warm winters. Sultana is the most affected variety.
Sometimes symptoms show on only a few leaves. These are hard to find in most years. Late season colour is pale yellow to light green.
