   LOOK FOR

    Look for in leaves
  • Leaves with irregular green-yellow speckles up to 2 mm across, which turn yellow to white later in the season
  • Symptoms on 2-3 exposed mature leaves per vine and rarely on more than 20 leaves
  • Speckles that may be isolated or clumped along main veins and veinlets

   CONDITIONS

  • More obvious in hot summers and on exposed basal leaves
  • Yellow speckle viroid shows bright symptoms in springs that follow warm winters. Sultana is the most affected variety.

   NOTES

Sometimes symptoms show on only a few leaves. These are hard to find in most years.
Late season colour is pale yellow to light green.
