- Spread in infested soil or infested planting material
- Nematode damage can be serious in replant situations, Damage is increased by drought or high water tables; or by soils that are sandy, shallow, compacted, saline, or highly acidic or highly alkaline.
- Nematode damage is difficult to diagnose in the vineyard. Send soil and root samples to a diagnostic lab for identification.
Check rootlings for infestation before planting. Rootstocks are the best way to overcome nematode problems when replanting.
