   LOOK FOR

    Look for in shoots
  • Brown-black spots in sunken craters with grey centres and raised callused edges
  • Swollen and stunted shoots with black cankers

    Look for in leaves
  • Small chocolate-brown spots (1-3 mm diam.) on young leaves or shoots
  • Black spots on distorted or shot-holed leaves
  • Circular, grey-black patches (2-5 mm diam.) with reddish-purple margins on older leaves
  • Spots that may appear in lines along the veins

    Look for in bunches
  • Infected berries with round brown-black spots that enlarge to form 'bird's-eye spots' (2-7 mm diam.). Spots may coalesce

   CONDITIONS

  • Spreads in moist spring weather. Most frequent on Sultana and some tablegrape varieties
