    Look for in shoots
  • Pierce's disease
  • Stunted shoots that harden off leaving distinctive patches of green
  • Symptoms usually on only one or two shoots but more common on young vines
  • Collaps of all shoots on some arms

    Look for in leaves
  • Pierce's disease
  • Dull coloured leaves with dried out patches

  • Be vigilant for diseases and pests not yet present.
  • Some pathogens and pests will cause severe damage if they reach Australian or New Zealand vineyards. If you find symptoms, check the Looks Like photos to avoid confusion with other symptoms, then notify your local Department of Agriculture.
  • Pierce's disease
  • Symptoms usually occur in mid to late summer. Found in the south-east USA, Pierce's disease is spread by some leafhoppers to edge-row vines near rivers.
