Look for in shoots- Dead tips on shortened shoots with a bluish hue.
- Shoots that remain rubbery and may develop small (< 1 mm) raised black pustules near the base
Look for in leaves - Yellow patches on downward curled leaves that overlap each other and fall prematurely
Look for in bunches - Bunches that shrivel and die from flowering onward. On Chardonnay, individual berries tend to shrivel
- More prevalent in warm inland regions on Chardonnay and Riesling
- Monitor for Australian Grapevine Yellows (AGY) from flowering to berry softening.
Symptoms usually develop on single or adjacent shoots, on one or more arms of a vine. Symproms should be present on leaves, shoots and bunches before AGY is suspected. AGY can be confirmed by laboratory testing.
